Broward Tax Pro or formerly known as Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is an excellent opportunity for individuals and families to keep more of their money and save on tax preparation fees.
This service is provided by trained, qualified, tax professionals who will prepare taxes at no cost* and determine an individual’s eligibility for special tax credits such as Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit, and Credit for Children and Dependent Care Expenses and Education credits to assist taxpayers in maximizing their returns refunds.
We also have a telephone hotline to serve as an informational hub. The hotline staff will only provide general program information, answer general (non-tax related) questions, provide details about site locations, schedules and appointment scheduling information for sites that require such. Who

In the 2023 tax season, close to 3,300 families and individuals took advantage of our program and had their income taxes prepared by certified tax professionals. Close to $3 million in taxes were refunded to eligible taxpayers with over $1M in savings from tax preparation fees.
*To be eligible for this free service, a family or an individual must have an annual household income of less than $75,000 and must have a tax scenario that the certified professionals are qualified to help with. Certified professionals come from a diverse background and may assist those who speak English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and Portuguese.

Hispanic Unity of Florida (HUF) is a non-profit founded in 1982 by community leaders to ease the acculturation transition for newcomers from other nations. Today, HUF provides assistance through 12 programs and 30+ services in four languages to South Florida's diverse community. HUF, an UnidosUS Affiliate, is one of South Florida’s largest agencies dedicated to the immigrant population, providing them with the tools they need to build a new life. Since its inception, HUF has served nearly 500,000 people.
